2017 ANNUAL MEETING

2017

"HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED?  WRITING YOUR OWN OBITUARY."

“How do you want to be Remembered?  Writing your own Obituary” will be the focus of this year’s annual meeting of the nonprofit Funeral Consumers Alliance of Stanislaus/Merced Counties.

Featured will be a screening of 2017 documentary OBIT, a fascinating and often humorous inside look at the obituary writers at THE NEW YORK TIMES as they prepare stories of the extraordinary lives of the famous and infamous.

July Sly Herrero, a 40 year veteran of THE MODESTO BEE and author of hundreds of obituaries, will join us for a discussion of how to craft one’s obituary.

A brief business meeting to elect officers and for member's comments will follow the program. There will also be a drawing for a copy of the FCA booklet “Before I Go You Should Know,” a useful planning document. Additional copies will be available for sale at $15 each.

The State Theatre's concession stand will be open for those who wish to purchase refreshments.
